A bigger jail
The Islamabad model jail will initially have a capacity for ab estimated 2000 inmates, with future provisions to accommodate an additional 2000, for a total of 4000 inmates. Considering that this prison will be catering to the needs of several law-enforcement agencies and courts for a period of decades and the country’s ever-growing population, this capacity seems insufficient.
The capacity of the model prison should be based on the projected requirements of the next 50 years or so at least and the development of its infrastructure carried out in different phases depending on the availability of budgetary resources.
