Mosque teacher arrested for raping minor in Larkana

LARKANA:

Police in Larkana arrested on Thursday a mosque teacher allegedly involved in the rape of a nine-year-old student.

The minor’s father, Baghan Chandio, said that his son along with other children regularly frequented Khalid Bin Waleed mosque located in Larkana city near his residence.

According to the FIR, the mosque teacher was caught ‘red-handed’ by a family member of Baghan. The victim’s father added that the cleric belonged to the Chandio tribe as well and was caught committing sexual assault against the minor when his brother and a cousin arrived at the mosque to offer afternoon prayers.

“He (the teacher) managed to escape,” said Baghan.

Speaking to the father said that his son, enrolled in class three of a primary school, was emotionally traumatized after the incident.

The father further stated that the accused’s family members attempted to dissuade his family from filing a case against him, suggesting to resolve the among themselves.

“We are under pressure but will not spare the man who ruined my son’s life,” said the victim’s father as he wept.

The video of the incident went viral on social media, with netizens condemning the incident and demanding the authorities take stern action against the accused.

Earlier in April, the suspect who raped a minor boy while he was observing Itikaf in Muzaffargarh was arrested.

The 13-year-old boy was observing Itikaf when another individual, who was also observing Itikaf, allegedly raped him. The suspect reportedly managed to escape after the incident and the mosque iman claimed he was threatened with dire consequences.

A medical examination of the survivor was then conducted, with local police assuring that the suspect would be arrested soon.
