Sardar Saleem Haider sworn in as Punjab governor

Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, a member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), on Friday officially assumed the role of Governor of Punjab following a swearing-in ceremony in Lahore, Express News reported.
The Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC), Shahzad Ahmad Khan, administered the oath to Haider. The ceremony was attended by the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, former Punjab Governor Baligh Ur Rehman and others.

During the ceremony, Maryam was on stage while Bilawal was seated in front of the stage. After Haider took the oath, the PPP workers chanted slogans of ‘long live Bhutto’. Some workers broke through the security cordon and climbed onto the stage.
On Sunday, the swearing-in ceremony was re-scheduled due to ‘unavoidable’ reasons.
The president, earlier, appointed the governors on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and in accordance with Articles 48(1) and 101 of the Constitution.
The premier and PPP chairman finalised the names of the governors in their meeting at the PM house.
